Everyone loves watching the Real Housewives for the on camera drama, but nothing is better than when the housewives’ personal lives get extra messy.
I’ll be the first to admit, watching the housewives fight on any of the Real Housewives franchises, makes me feel good about my life. The rest of the show definitely doesn’t make me feel great. Am I really supposed to look at their opulent lifestyles and feel good that I can’t go to Italy on a whim. What keeps me watching however, is the knock down drag out fights they have on camera.
Nothing speaks to me more than watching older women fight about absolutely nothing, in most cases. Sometimes however, the drama is real and I love that even more. When a housewives personal life comes crashing down, it is both enjoyable and saddening to watch. It also makes the housewife seem more relatable sometimes. That may be the case in some of these examples, but not for most. Anyways, here are the top housewives scandals of the past year.
Erika Jayne
If you think Erika looks rough in this picture, give the girl a break, she just lost her glam squad. The glam squad plane crash victims paid for, yeah that one. Erika made headlines when she announced her divorced from husband Tom in late 2020. Our jaws dropped even further when a week later Tom was accused of embezzling money from plane crash victims. He took settlement money from victims to fund his and his wife’s lavish lifestyle. At first there was confusion over whether or not Erika knew, but let’s be real, she definitely knew.
Lawyers recently filed a lawsuit against Erika as well for allegedly faking her divorce. The lawyers claim Tom loaned Erika a butt load of money and then orchestrated the divorce to keep the money away from the plane crash victims. It’s not looking to good for Erika right now. I have mixed feelings about this. For the most part, I like Erika, because she seems like a down to Earth person on the show. Reading about all this makes me hate her though. Who could steal from people who literally almost died in a plane crash? Anyways, it seems Andy and Bravo are on her side so we can expect her to continue to be on RHOB, even if she goes to jail.
Jen Shah’s Arrest
I am not conflicted at all on how I feel about Jen Shah’s arrest. First of all, the crime she is accused of is horrendous. Second of all, I really didn’t like her on the show. I mean, she’s a great TV villain (and real life villain apparently) but I could tell I would hate her if we ever met. She is the kind of person who makes everything about themselves and seems to take everything super personally. I mean did she really have to end a friendship with Mary because she said she smelled hospital? That seems like a bit much to me.
Anyways, Jen was arrested in March 2021 on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Her and her assistant Stuart, were allegedly running a telemarketing scheme for years. What makes their crime worse, is that their targets were working class people and the elderly. People who already have a hard time financially. Her and Stuart can potentially serve up to 50 years in prison. Good luck bouncing back from this Jen. The only positive thing about all of this, is that Bravo cameras were rolling during Jen’s arrest and filmed the whole thing. I can’t wait to watch it play out when season 2 airs.
Michael Darby
Anyone who watches Real Housewives of Potomac, pretty much knows that Michael Darby is dumpster fire personified. He’s cheated on Ashely a few times, and while filming season five, was accused of grabbing a male producers butt. He denied it, but Bravo cameras captured the incident and played it for viewers. I love the shady Bravo editors. They truly understand the content viewers want to see. Anyways, it was clear from the videos that the butt grab happened, and that the producer wasn’t really okay with it happening. He clearly looked uncomfortable.
Since then, the other ladies have come out and said they hear about Michael doing this a lot. I don’t know what to say about it really. No one should be grabbing anyone’s butt without consent. I feel horrible for Ashley constantly having to defend her garbage husband. He is at the Danielle Staub level of garbage. I’m pretty sure Caroline Manzo would even agree with me there and say it to his face during dinner.
Kelly Dodd
Kelly Dodd has got to be one of the stupidest, most tone-deaf housewives to ever exist. There are just so many things wrong about her. The fact that she didn’t immediately recognize the offensive nature of this hat is one thing, but to not even recognize it before posting it is another. Kelly got a lot of heat for wearing this hat, but don’t worry, she has a defense. In her apology, she said she didn’t buy the hat, her friend gave it to her. That was literally the apology. She did say it was a mistake to wear it during the reunion, but a three year old would have known that.
Kelly also said some stupid stuff about COVID. She said it was God’s way of thinning the heard, and that she isn’t a sheep. Back in September, she claimed the pandemic was over and if we were all independent thinkers like her, we would know that. There are too many things to go over regarding Kelly Dodd, so I’ll just stop here. I’m happy she’s off the show for good.
Monique and Candiace’s Blowout
Monique and Candiace had the fight to end all fights during season five of Real Housewives of Potomac. The two were fighting about something, when Candiace started daring Monique to drag her. After repeatedly shouting “drag me Monique” in her face, Monique obliged. Monique reached across the table, grabbed Candiace’s hair, and held on for dear life. While watching, it seemed like she had absolutely no plans on ever letting go of her hair. The other women and production got involved, eventually getting Monique to let go.
This whole drama between them became the topic for the rest of the season. The two couldn’t be around each other, and naturally would not film if the other was around. They both filed lawsuits against the other, both of which were eventually dismissed. I know I said I like when housewives fight, but I’m not sure I like when things get physical. It makes it too real I guess. I know words can ruin lives, but so can an assault charge.
Denise Richards vs Everyone Else
During the 2020 season of RHOBH, Denise either looked confused like up above, or really pissed off. There was absolutely no in-between with her. I can’t really blame her though. I would be mad too if Brandi Glanville, the least trustworthy former cast member, spread a rumor about me. Add to that the fact that all my friends believed her and we have my worst nightmare. I feel you Denise, and I am definitely on your side. I can’t even begin to talk about how much I dislike Lisa Rinna now, but we’ll get into that later.
Brandi Glanville came in with the intention of starting drama and ruining Denise’s life. She came up with this story about how Denise lured her into her hotel room and had sex with her. Brandi’s issue with this is that Denise made is seem at first like she has an open marriage, and then turned it around and made Brandi feel like the other woman.
Denise claims this never happened, and that she isn’t even good friends with Brandi. Sure enough, no one believes her, and it becomes a pile your crap on Denise party. Thank God for Garcelle who has a brain and didn’t believe Brandi, a proven liar, just off face value. Lisa Rinna proved to me, that I could never be her friend. The way she hounded Denise instead of sticking up for her blew my mind. I did not like the mean girl vibe of last season, and am not surprised Denise chose to leave the show. Sad, but not surprised.
Portia and Bolo
Kenya Moore caused quite a storm when she insisted that something went down between Portia, Drew and Bolo. Bolo is the stripper the ladies hired to preform at Cynthia’s bachelorette party. In a confessional after the ladies’ wild night, Kenya claimed someone slept with stripper. When all the ladies went to sleep, Portia and Drew stayed up with Bolo after production put down their cameras. The cameras that were outside caught Portia and Drew making out, and Kenya insists something further went down with Bolo.
She claims when she came down in the morning, she heard moaning sounds. Portia obviously was not happy about Kenya talking all this smack about her. I mean, even if it’s true, it is none of Kenya’s business. Portia was a single lady and the time and owed nobody any explanations. Mind your business Kenya.
