Weekend Roundup: The Craziest Headlines From The Weekend

This weekend was filled with crazy headlines, and I’m here to break it all down, for everyone too busy to keep up, in my weekly weekend roundup.

The celebrity world provided us with a lot to be thankful for this weekend. Kanye gave us a lot to think about and maybe too much information in his first presidential rally. While we all thought the entanglement moment had passed, August Alsina said you thought. In some more serious news, Taryn Manning spoke on the Free Britney Movement. Are you confused about any of this? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Find out all the juicy details in this edition of weekend roundup.

August Alsina Still Entangled

Weekend Roundup, August Alsina and Jada Pinkett Smith on a red carpet.

After avoiding the subject completely, Jada and Will sat down for a super dramatic Red Table Talk to discuss August. As a result, we all learned a new roundabout way to say we hooked up with someone. Jada, now famously, said she had an entanglement with August, while her and Will were briefly separated. Her choice of words definitely sparked an onslaught of memes and even an auto tuned song. Well, now we have an actual song we can listen to, to hear August’s rebuttal. I haven’t listened to the song, but I’m sure it’s a good one. To be fair, I don’t listen to his music anyway. This is on brand for me.

While the rest of us were making memes, August Alsina found a way to make money. In his new song Entanglements, he raps “The definition of entanglement is when you tangle in the sheets.” This could be seen as a shot at Jada, however his interviews show otherwise. In an interview with Vulture, he says he hasn’t watched the Red Table Talk episode, but agrees with Jada that is was an entanglement. He also says he doesn’t like people thinking he made moves on a married woman, which is why he went public with the story. That’s a pretty understandable reason to unveil a relationship.

Kanye West Is Serious

Weekend Roundup, Kanye at his Presidential rally.

Kanye West is officially a presidential nominee. Let’s be honest, this was fun to joke about but what is actually happening on this planet. His first rally took place this past weekend in North Charleston, South Carolina. Boy is there a lot to unpack here. First, some young woman took to the stage and spoke on issues they are passionate about. This isn’t too strange, and I think is a good way to get people to think you care about what they say. It didn’t long though, before he treated us to a true Kanye rant.

I guess it’s not that weird, because candidates are supposed to give speeches at these things, but Kanye’s is next level. First of all, he had 2020 shaved into the side of his head. Let that sink in. He touched on his issue with drugs, his collab with Adidas and abortion. He revealed his father wanted to abort him, and that he wanted to abort North. I think, for me, that is the craziest thing he said during the rally and the craziest part of this weekend roundup.

He says he is pro abortion but thinks women who have kids to get a million dollars or so. I don’t know how that will be possible. Also, weed should not only be legal, but also free. He has until the end of today to get 10,000 signatures to get on the presidential ballot as an independent candidate. I wish him nothing but health and the best of luck.

Taryn Manning and the Free Britney Movement

Britney’s former co-star, Taryn Manning, is weighing in on the Free Britney Movement. The pair starred in the iconic 2,000s film, Crossroads and have both exploded in the fame department since. Taryn has found success as Tiffany “Pennsatucky” Doggett on Netflix’s Orange is the New Black. Anyways, back to the point. Taryn posted a picture of them on set, commenting that in her eyes, Britney looks happy and encouraged her to keep being happy.

Taryn Manning’s Instagram post

It seems Taryn also has an issue with the wording of the movement. She says, until we know the specifics of the relationship between Britney and her father, we should not speculate. We should have faith in a higher power and trust that things will work out the way they are supposed to. I agree with her that we don’t know anything about the relationship between Britney and her dad. However, I think we can all agree, things seem a bit shady in this situation. I’m glad Taryn acknowledged the conservatorship is unfair, because it is. I also don’t think Britney looks happy in any of her posts, so I don’t know where that is coming from. Britney’s Instagram looks like a giant cry for help. Anyways, Nice to hear what Taryn had so say.
