Nicki Minaj announced she’s preggers with her and husband Kenneth Perry’s first child. Congratulations to the happy couple!
Today is a happy day for Nicki Minaj and her family. The announcement came via Instagram in a very Beyoncé esque way. The first picture features Nicki in a bikini like outfit, wearing the highest heels I have ever seen, sitting down and cradling her bump. The bright yellow wig really made the picture great in my opinion. I always find these types of announcements really funny. It’s never really about being pregnant, but more like pictures of someone playing dress up. To each their own I guess. I just know mine will be much more subdued.
Controversy With Kenneth
While her relationship with Kenneth has always been in the headlines, it’s in it for happy reasons this time. Fans of Nicki took issue with Kenneth because he is a known sex offender. He has served four years in prison for raping a 16-year-old girl at knifepoint in 1994. No one was happy with Nicki when this relationship first was exposed. He was 15 at the time but that’s still pretty violent. Nicki Minaj however, has defended her husband time and time again making it clear, she’s fine with his past. While it is true people are capable of change, that is a pretty violent crime. I don’t know how I feel about redemption in this case.
Things only get more complicated when you add in the fact that Kenneth is in trouble again. In March, Kenneth missed the deadline set for him to register as a sex offender in California. You would think that’s something you would put on your calendar. This, combined with the fact that it’s a high profile pregnancy, could make custody an issue for him. For more information on how it could effect his rights to custody, visit Newsweek. I thought this might be an issue, considering sex offenders can’t live with children or even around parks and schools. He also has a manslaughter charge so social workers will definitely be paying more attention to this child.
Anyways, congratulations to Nicki and Kenneth! I really hope everything works out for them.
