The Jonas Brothers are Back

My twelve year old self is so happy right now she is literally throwing a party and doing her happy dance.

The Jonas Brothers announced this morning, Thursday, Feb. 28, that they have officially gotten back together as a band and are releasing new music. The announcement was made via a promo video for their episode of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden. Guys, they even have a new song coming out midnight on Friday, and it sounded amazing. It’s no “Year 3,000” or anything but it sounded pretty damn good. Starting on Monday, the trio will begin their week long takeover of the Corden’s late night talk show, The Late Late Show With James Corden. They’re giving us new music and a whole week of interviews, skits and musical performances. Not to mention the first ever performance of their new single, “Sucker.” I could not have asked for a better comeback, one I never thought would happen, but knew deep down that I always wanted. They went on a hiatus before and came back briefly before officially calling it quits in 2013. I can’t believe it has been five years since we have been blessed with new music from the most famous brothers on the planet and am super pumped for their new album.

Jonas Brothers formed and became a big deal in 2005 when I was in elementary school. They were all over Disney Channel, which of course was the only thing I watched at the time, so I quickly became their biggest fan. The walls in my room were completely covered with pictures of them. In the rivalry between Nick and Joe, I was always a Nick girl mostly because I think I identified with his curly hair, and I thought he was the most talented (and still do, not shade to the rest of them though). I was such a big fan, I even watched their horribly awkward Disney Channel show called Jonas which was just really bad. I am proud to say that my first concert was a Jonas Brothers concert when I was 12 years old. I went with my sister and my mom, and my mom had to sit on the other side of the auditorium because we couldn’t find three seats next to each other. That night was honestly the best night of my short 12 years and I’ll remember it always. Besides getting to see them in concert, I was given a new poster to hang up on my wall.

One of the reasons I thought the comeback would never happen is that Joe and Nick both found success in the music industry on their own, and Kevin seemed happy to leave all that behind to be with his cute little family. By the way, I don’t know why Married to Jonas got cancelled, that show was really good and I loved it. Kevin’s wife’s family was crazy and adorable and it was funny to see just how normal Kevin’s life turned out post boy band fame. Anyways, Nick made a name for himself as a solo artist with three studio albums with singles from those albums, “Chains” and “Jealous” debuting high on billboards hot 100. His brother Joe found success as a member of another band, DNCE. They all seemed to be going in different directions musically and moving on and growing in their personal lives. Kevin has been married for nine years and has the cutest two daughter and also has been working as a real estate developer. Joe has been engaged to Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner since October 2017 and Nick married actress Priyanka Chopra in December 2018 (man that wedding felt like it went on for five years). Whatever the circumstances were that made these brothers come back together as musicians, I am thankful and excited.

Catch the famous trio on The Late Late Show With James Corden, on CBS, everyday next week, and listen to their new song midnight on Friday.
