Housewives friendships come and go, and while we love the drama, seeing these six friendships fall apart was depressing.
Part of what makes the Real Housewives so great, is the friendships between the women. The drama is great, but, for me at least, the friendships moments are the most fun to watch. With this in mind, you can only imagine the disappointment I feel when these friendships break up. Every time a friendship ends, a fairy loses its wings. Let’s take a look at the six saddest friendship break ups in housewives history. Well, to this point at least. I’m sure there will be more to come.
Kyle Richards and Lisa Vanderpump
The breakup of Kyle and Lisa is the saddest break up on this list for me. We watched their antics play out since season one and watching it fall apart was heartbreaking. It all started when Kyle took Dorit’s side in the Lucy Lucy Apple Juicy scandal. Potentially the dumbest housewives fight in history. Lisa was accused of leaking stories which make Dorit look bad and then lying about it. Kyle taking Dorit’s side, broke Lisa’s heart and ended their friendship. While I agreed with Kyle, the fight was hard to watch and the hurt on both their faces was clearly genuine. I hope they can work it out eventually. At least it gave us GOODBYE KYLE!
Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin
I still don’t know what happened to break these two up. Whatever happened, happened off camera and will forever be a mystery. Legend has it, Jill heard Bethenny was getting a spin off and was pissed off she wasn’t getting one. She brought Bethenny on the show and was annoyed she became more popular than her. She started a don’t film with Bethenny campaign, essentially trying to write her off the show. That clearly didn’t work. I honestly think this friendship could have been salvaged had they ever been left alone to just talk it out. It took a while, but I’m happy they are back on track now.
Teresa Guidice and Jacqueline Laurita
How do you go from chasing someone out of a country club together, to hurling insults and hating each other? Just ask Teresa and Jacqueline. It all started with magazine headlines, Teresa’s need to keep things private and Jacqueline’s need to know everything. They got over this and moved on to about 20 other arguments. Jacqueline accused Teresa of setting up Melissa to look like a stripper, Teresa made fun of everyone in her cookbook and a bunch of other petty bullshit. I don’t blame Teresa for dropping Jacqueline after season seven, because Jac went a little crazy. I don’t think Lucy and Ethel will every reunite.
Porsha Williams and Phaedra Parks
Frick and Frack are no longer. The season nine reunion was not a good time for these two besties. At the start of the season, Phaedra told Porsha that years ago, Kandi and Todd had told her they want to drug and take advantage of Porsha. This obviously caused major friction between Porsha and Kandi for the whole season. Come to find out at the reunion, Phaedra made the whole story up to get back at Kandi for drama the two had in the past. This led Porsha to feel betrayed and used. I would feel exactly the same if my friend did that to me! The two are cordial now, and Porsha has said she is fine keeping things on the surface.
Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson
This friendship had many highs and lows in its decade long timeline. The biggest blow however, came when Meghan revealed Vicki’s boyfriend lied about having cancer. I would be pretty upset too. Vicki didn’t take well to accusations she was involved in a cancer scam, and wouldn’t admit to it. Her inability to accept any responsibility for her actions, effectively ended the friendship. Although Vicki was wrong, I did feel bad seeing her on the show with no allies. The pair have since made up and neither one is on the show anymore, so I guess everything worked out.
D’Andra Simmons and LeeAnne Locken
D’Andra was introduced on Real Housewives of Dallas as LeeAnne’s friend. You would never know that was the case watching the last two seasons. It all went South when D’Andra expressed concern that LeeAnne’s fiance might be cheating on her. This compounded with LeeAnne trying to control who D’Andra can be friends with, sunk this friendship. LeeAnne can’t let go of the cheating accusations and the friendship just can’t get back on track. After LeeAnne’s racist outbursts in season 4, I don’t think this relationship will ever be repaired. Honestly thank the heavens. I love D’Andra and loathe LeeAnne.
