Real Housewife of Salt Lake City’s Jen Shah Indicted on Fraud Charges

Real Housewife of Salt Lake City, Jen Shah, arrested and indicted this Tuesday morning on fraud and money laundering charges.

Boy oh boy is Mary M. Cosby flying high over the moon this morning. Jen Shah and her assistant and head of the Shah Squad were arrested this morning. Jen and Stuart are facing federal charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. All this stems from an telemarketing scam the two have supposedly been running for years. This news comes as a major shock to all of us who watched the show. I mean Jen was crazy on the show, but I never thought of her as a criminal. Not once did I think she would be the next Teresa. I just thought of her as a little psychotic and self obsessed. Only good things.

According to court documents, Jen and Stuart would give their sidekicks a list of names, who would then go on to get scammed. When called, these people would be pushed into engaging with businesses that turned out to be a scheme for Jen to make money. Her victim list apparently includes hundreds of names, according to the NYPD and the Manhattan U.S. attorney. Jen and Stuart have allegedly been running this scheme since 2012. For those of you who are as numerically challenged as me, that makes nine years. I hope the nine years of easy money was worth it, because if convicted, Jen faces up to 30 years in prison.

Are we really that shocked?

I’m not saying Jen Shah was a complete angel. She caused a majority of the drama on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, so I can’t say she was my favorite. I am definitely more of a Meredith girl, but that is besides the point. Now that the accusations are out, I don’t have a hard time believing they are true. Throughout the entire first season, and during the reunion, Jen was completely unable to take accountability for any of her actions. When confronted with any wrongdoings, all she did was deflect.

It is clear from the way she reacted to situations on the show, and the way in which she treated her friends, that she has no regard for other people’s feelings. Looks like the other women were right to say they don’t trust her in Vegas. They have their heads on straight. My question is, why would someone committing fraud, volunteer to be on a reality show. Did she not see what happened to Teresa Guidice? She could have at least tried to be humble about her enormous wealth, even if it wasn’t illegally obtained. Just a good way not to be obnoxious.

Anyways, what do you think of Jen’s arrest? Did you like her on the show? Let me know in the comments!
