Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Welcome Their First Child.

When I get pregnant with my first child, is the whole world going to anticipate its arrival, celebrate and congratulate me when he/she is born, or is that just a royal family thing?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have welcomed their first child together! British citizens and fans of the royal family across the globe are celebrating the arrival of the couple’s baby boy. That’s right, turns out Meghan was carrying a little prince the whole time. Baby boy Sussex was born early on Monday, May 6 weighing in at 7 pounds, 3 ounces. The new baby is seventh in line for the throne, behind his Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and his father Prince Harry, in that order. The couple’s official Instagram account broke the news to the public post with a picture announcing the birth and sex of the baby. Prince Harry also released his own statement after the announcement just gushing over his new baby saying, “this little thing is absolutely to die for, so I’m just over the moon.” He went on to compliment Meghan in the delivery process stating, “it’s been the most amazing experience I can ever possibly imagine. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, and we’re both absolutely thrilled.”

Meghan and Harry have been shaking things up since their nuptials last year and the way in which they chose to have their baby is no different. Traditionally, when a royal baby is born, the proud mother and father stand outside the hospital for a few minutes, and give the press a chance to photograph the new baby from a distance. Kate Middleton did this with each of her three children, as did Princess Diana with her two boys. Meghan on the other hand opted not take the typical family photos and even changed the traditional venue of birth. Royal babies in recent history have been born in the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. They had said they wanted to enjoy and celebrate the birth privately before announcing it to the public and didn’t even disclose where the baby would be born. I mean, I’ve never had a baby, but I think I would opt out of this photo opp too. Having to sit through hair and makeup only a few hours after giving birth, who wants to do that? Major props to Kate and Diana for not only doing it, but looking so amazing in the pictures.

I’m just happy that the never ending and overwhelming amount of stories speculating about the due date and sex of this baby. Every day there was a story coming out with new clues as to what the gender of this baby was going to be. Meghan wore blue to one event so the natural conclusion was that she was going to have a boy. Harry scheduled an appearance in the Netherlands which must mean Meghan has already had her baby. It was just a lot and I’m happy it’s all over and done with. Now, what I have to look forward to, is all the stories speculating about what the baby’s name is going to be. Are they going to give him a name traditionally used by the royal family, like Albert, or are they going to be a little original? At least now all the girl baby names can be crossed off the list.

Anyways, congratulations to the new parents! Please release the name of the baby soon so I don’t have to endure a week of stories speculating what it is.
