People’s Choice Awards Predictions

Will the fan favorites come out on top, or will a dark horse come in and shock everyone?

The People’s Choice Awards is a month away and fans have been voting on their favorite movies, TV shows and actors since September. In the previous blog post, I made predictions on what movies I think will win in the Movie of 2018 category and Comedy Movie of 2018 category. Today I will be discussing what movies I think will win in the Action Movie of 2018, Drama Movie of 2018 and Family Movie of 2018 categories. Let’s get to it.

Action Movie of 2018

Black Panther
Avengers: Infinity War
Deadpool 2
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Ready Player One
Ant-Man and the Wasp
The Equalizer 2
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Rampage
Ocean’s 8
The Meg
Mission: Impossible – Fallout

I’m not going to lie and say I have seen every movie on this list, because if I’m being honest action is not really my favorite genre when it comes to movies. They are super entertaining, but most of the time there really is no plot or a really weak plot. Even without having seen a majority of these movies, I think I can confidently say Black Panther is going to win. It’s kind of pointless to even put any of these other movies up against it. It had all kinds of fan support when it came out earlier this year, and I have to admit, I actually enjoyed watching it. It was more than just a group of people fighting the bad guy. Now I haven’t seen Rampage, but I have seen other movies The Rock is in and can basically say I have in fact seen Rampage. Unpopular opinion alert, I actually do not like watching Dwayne Johnson’s movies. They are all the same. Seen one you have seen them all. Expect for The Game Plan, that movie is iconic.

Drama Movie of 2018

Fifty Shades Freed
12 Strong

Annihilation
Red Sparrow
Breaking In
The 15:17 to Paris
Tyler Perry’s Acrimony
Adrift
Midnight Sun
The First Purge
BlacKkKlansman
A Quiet Place

The fact that Fifty Shades Freed is up there makes me laugh. I have never been able to take the movies in this franchise seriously. Besides that, I think this category is going to go to A Quiet Place. Since it’s the fans deciding who wins, I think this is A Quiet Place’s category. The other movies on this list, minus a few, may have been more of a typical drama movie, whereas A Quiet Place was advertised more as horror and suspense, no other movie got as much buzz or higher box office numbers. It’s a possibility that the other movies may have been better, but if not as many people went to see them they aren’t going to get as many votes. Everyone was talking about A Quiet Place after it came out so I think they have it. It would be cool to see The 15:17 to Paris to win since the real heroes from the train attack starred in the film, but that won’t happen.

Family Movie of 2018

Incredibles 2
A Wrinkle in Time
Paddington 2
Peter Rabbit
Hotel Transylvania 3
Sherlock Gnomes
I Can Only Imagine
Show Dogs
Early Man
Teen Titans Go! To the Movies
Christopher Robin
A.X.L.

Due to the fact that I do not have children or know anyone who would want to watch these movies with me, I have not seen a majority of these movies or have even heard of them. If I had to make a guess, I would say either Incredibles 2 or A Wrinkle in Time will take it home. Fans had been waiting since 2004 for an Incredibles sequel and we were not disappointed. On the other hand, A Wrinkle in Time was star studded and a lot of people went to see it so it’s a toss up.
