Dramatic First Trailer for Emma Stone’s Cruella Released

Fans got a look at what to expect in Emma Stone’s Cruella with the debut of its trailer Wednesday morning. Let me tell you, we are in for a treat!

I’m going to be honest, when I found out Disney was making a movie about Cruella de Vil, I wasn’t very excited. In my opinion, Glenn Close and the cartoon are the only Cruellas we need in this world. I’m happy to say, I changed my mind after watching this trailer. It helps that it isn’t another version of 101 Dalmatians, and is actually a new story. Also, they cast Emma Stone as Cruella, which if you watched the trailer, you know was a smart decision. Glenn Close is the best 101 Dalmatians era version of the character, and I’m sure Emma will be great in this era of the character. Anyways, let’s watch the trailer.

Cruella trailer

What about if not Dalmatians?

Emma Stone as Cruella de Vill.

Seems like Disney is trying to recapture the magic they created with Maleficent, by telling the backstory of another famous villain. It’s pretty obvious that everyone is obsessed with how someone becomes a villain. How else can you explain so many people’s obsession with serial killers and true crime? Mine included by the way. Anyways, that is the exact plot for Disney’s newest live action movie.

Based on the trailer and the synopsis Disney provided, we can assume it’s about a crazy lady who gets crazier throughout the movie. She starts of as Estella de Vil an aspiring fashion designer in 1970s London. We all know however, she eventually goes down the rabbit hole of crazy and gives in to her obsession with dog skin. This movie dives into how that obsession began, and also introduces a new conflict.

Estelle meets Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend and the two become fast friends. However, based on the trailer, it seems their relationship takes a sour turn and clears the path for Estelle to become Cruella. We also get to see cameos of some of our favorite characters from the original movies. We get to see how Cruella meets her band of thieves, as well as some new characters, like Tabitha the photographer.

When can we watch it?

I am now super excited to watch this movie. The clothes look amazing, as would be expected for a movie based on fashion designers. Emma Thompson, one of my faves, is starring as the Baroness, Emma Stone is Cruella, and it overall just looks amazing. The power of the two Emmas. As of now, it is set to be released in theaters on May 28. We have been lied to before though about theaters reopening, so I wouldn’t hold my breath. In any case, I’m sure it will be on Disney Plus that day, or around that time.

Are you excited to see Emma Stone as Cruella? Will you watch this movie? Let me know in the comments!
