Turns out, getting engaged only five weeks after dating someone, is not an indication that the relationship is built to last.
It’s official, Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson have called off their engagement and are no longer a couple. Show of hands, who else saw this coming? This relationship never made sense to me and it was clear to me from the start that it was not going to go the distance. First of all, she entered into the romance guns a blazing within the same month she announced her break up from her boyfriend of two years, Mac Miller, who recently passed away due to a suspected drug overdose. This was the rebound relationship that wanted to prove to the world they were more than that, but they eventually realized what the rest of the world already knew, and broke up. They probably should have come to this realization before getting a million tattoos dedicated to one another, moving in together and getting a pet pig together. Hasn’t anyone learned from Johnny Depp’s Winona Forever turned Wino Forever tattoo? You don’t get tattoos dedicated to your significant other ever.
Sources close to Ariana are saying the singer thought it was all moving too fast and was too much too soon. They also said that no one close to Ariana is surprised by the split. A lot of fans are speculating that she still had feelings for her ex and that his death hit her really hard. Her and her ex broke up due to Miller’s substance abuse issues and his struggles with sobriety. At the time, fans were criticizing her for leaving Miller who stood by her and helped her get through the rough times that came after the Manchester bombing during one of her concerts. She responded on Instagram by saying “I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be” and that she “cared for him and tried to support his sobriety and prayed for his balance for years.” It’s clear that the love for him never faded, she just couldn’t put up with the ups and downs that come with being with an addict. His death obviously threw her for a loop and made her realize that it was not the right time for her to be in such a serious relationship. Pete Davidson, although he had his own issues with mental health, was a lighter relationship without all the baggage and was a great rebound that went too far.
Pete Davidson definitely got the better end of the deal through the relationship. Before he got with Ariana, no one knew who he was. He had accomplished quite a few achievements, such as being the youngest comedian to be cast on SNL, but for the most part, he was not known by the general public. Once those first pictures of him and Grande hit the internet, his stardom skyrocketed and he was everywhere. He was super aware of this fact, which was evident in the plethora of jokes he made about the relationship during the first episode of SNL and while on talk shows. I actually really appreciated this about him. He was self-aware and the public could relate to him. Now all he has to do is get all those tattoos dedicated to Ariana Grande removed and he can move on with the rest of his life.
Seriously though, he has six tattoos dedicated to her including her last name on his ribs, a quote from her favorite movie on his neck, which matches one she already had, a cloud tattoo on his finger, Grande’s Dangerous Woman album artwork on his neck and the word reborn on his thumb. Not to mention a tattoo of their pet pig. Grande also has a few tattoos she might be regretting right about now including three matching tattoos. She also has the word reborn on her thumb and a cloud on her finger. The pair also got H2GKMO on their thumbs which stands for “honest to God, knock me out.” Along with those, Ariana got Pete inked onto her ring finger and 8418 on her ankle. The numbers were a tribute to Davidson’s father, a firefighter who passed away in the terror attacks on September, 11 2001. 8418 was his badge number. They better be thinking of ways to cover up those tattoos, or just get them removed. Who needs the constant reminder of a failed relationship? Hopefully next time they stay away from the ink stained needles.
I was expecting the break up so I’m fine with that but, what I really want to know is, who gets custody of Piggy Smallz, the pet pig? The pig should not suffer.
